When purchasing alcohol in Manitoba, adults who appear to be under the age of 25 must show photo ID.
Show Your Age. It's not about appearances...it's the law!
Appearances can be deceiving as not everyone looks their age. That's why if you are purchasing alcohol in Manitoba and appear to be under the age of 25, you will be required to produce photo identification.
Acceptable forms of photo identification include:
- a valid Manitoba Driver’s Licence or Enhanced Driver’s Licence, or
- a valid Identification Card or Enhanced Identification Card issued by Manitoba Public Insurance
Acceptable forms of alternative photo ID when coupled with a secondary piece of identification:
- Passport – Canadian or other country
- Certificate of Indian Status
- Certificate of Canadian Citizenship
- Permanent Resident Card
- Canadian Forces Identification Card (National Defence)
- Canadian Firearms Licence
Acceptable secondary pieces of government-issued identification include:
- Provincial Health Card
- Social Insurance (SIN) Card
- Birth Certificate
- Marriage Certificate
- Certificate of Name Change
- Old Age Security (OAS) Identification Card
Please note: All photo ID presented must be valid, and the photo on the card must clearly look like the person who has presented it for identification.
